East Village’s Lakeside Lounge to Shutter After 16 Years

An East Village bar known for its live music, vintage jukebox and $3 dollar beers is closing for good next week. The Lakeside Lounge on Avenue B, will be added to the growing list of the neighborhood's recently shuttered nightspots, such as the Mars Bar and Banjo Jim's.
Space Shuttle's Arrival in NYC Delayed Due to Weather

The Intrepid Sea, Air & Space Museum may have cleared part of its deck in anticipation of the arrival of the space shuttle, but it will have to wait a bit longer. NASA's planned flight of the Enterprise, piggy-backed atop of a 747, has been pushed back due to "an unfavorable weather forecast."

Feeling adventurous, I ordered a fancy-pants coffee at Starbucks. A "lite" caramel macchiato, tall, extra foam. I could taste the artificial sweeteners in the sugar-free, vanilla syrup, but otherwise, it was pretty tasty.

In a German airport, an Israeli pianist and a Malian guitarist crossed paths, changing both of their musical destinies. Idan Raichel, the pianist, had already been a huge fan of Vieux Farka Toure, the guitarist, so it did not take him long to suggest playing together.
