After more than a decade playing minimalist slowcore as the lead singer of Low, Alan Sparhawk turned up the amp to eleven when he debuted with the harder, louder Retribution Gospel Choir in 2005. Emerging as a mainly live side-project, the band plays rowdier, anthemic tunes inspired by classic rock, with Sparhawk maintaining his position as lead vocalist and fellow Low bandmate Steve Garrington joining in again as bassist. "Hide It Away," from RGC's sophomore album 2, is a stadium-worthy tune full of thoroughly rocky guitar and delicate yet rugged vocals.
